When I started Tranquil Botanicals, we were toward the tail end of COVID restrictions and rare houseplants were taking off. I had a lot of excitement around sourcing rare plants that I could propagate and bring to my customers.
As the world got "back to work" and people spent less time in their homes, houseplants began to become a thing of the past. At the same time, large plant dealers were mass producing the rarest plants that were on my wishlist. My once $300-worth Pink Princess Philodendron was now being sold at my closest grocery store for about $15-20.
This last year I admittedly took a break from Tranquil Botanicals. I had a few pest outbreaks and I really couldn't stomach sending out any plants that people have spent good money on unless I know for sure there are no pests in my plant room. On top of that we bought a home and had a lot more responsibilities than before.
Between all of these things, I have known for a while that I needed to pivot Tranquil Botanical's focus.
I think I finally have some clarity on the next phase.
Tranquil Botanicals Study Series
I will begin focusing on creating and curating thoughtful and grounded "studies". When I say Study, I mean that I want to create moments for you to slow down and be reflective about some element of nature. You might call them "kits", but rather than a quick step-by-step process, I will provide the materials that you will use to build something beautiful, explore flavors, or appreciate nature, allowing your curiosity to lead the way. I don't have all the details ready for you today, but I will be inviting you to participate in each study and share your outcomes so we can all learn together.
Botanicals
The focus on botanicals might be obvious if you've been around for any amount of time. I love plants of all kinds. I started Tranquil Botanicals by focusing on houseplants, but as I now have my own home, my backyard provides a new place to experiment. While I enjoy growing things, I also think it's important to share about that experience to help promote a healthy relationship with nature, not to mention the healthy eating and living that gardening can contribute to.
What next?
With this shift in my focus, I will be giving the Tranquil Botanicals brand a fresh look. I'm in the process of working on an updated logo, choosing some new colors and fonts, and I will share those with you once they are ready.
What might be more interesting to you though are the future releases that I am working on. I plan on spending time working on small releases focusing on quality over quantity. I will share everything on my Instagram including my processes, experimentation, and development of these studies, so follow me there for regular updates.
For my first release I am exploring herbal blends. There will be limited quantities, so being on my email list will be the best way to ensure you are able to be the first to purchase it.
Please join me in this focus on more intentional and reflective living.
