Acclimating Your Plant

Acclimating Your Plant

When receiving plants in the mail, you can expect that the plant will likely decline after a few days from the shock of the journey. However, there are a few things you can do to help your plant bounce back as quickly as possible. Follow these steps once you receive your plant:

  1. Remove any shipping material surrounding your plant.

  2. Do not remove the plant from the pot that it was shipped in for at least 10 days. If you do, it can disturb the roots and hurt the plant.

  3. If the soil is still wet when you receive it, DO NOT WATER IT. Let it dry out for a few days, and check the dampness of the soil with your finger before watering. If the soil is still damp, wait until it is dry to the touch, 2-3 inches deep.

  4. If the soil is dry when you receive it, bottom water it so it can soak up as much water as it needs. Be sure to remove the pot from the water after around 30 minutes so the roots don't start to rot. Do not fertilize your plant at this point.

  5. After around 10-20 days you can expect to start seeing your plant begin to grow again, as long as you are giving it an environment that it can thrive in. View each plant listing for details on the specific plant that you've ordered, and the environment it loves most.
